Link the Files and DB

Now you have the files and a DB you need to 'link them up'. To do this Drupal has a php page for the settings to edit. If you don't have cPanel copy default.settings.php to settings.php and edit it.

If you have cPanel open it up and log in

  1. Click File Manager
  2. Double-click 'sites' then double-click 'default'
  3. Select 'default.settings.php'
  4. Click copy at the top
  5. In the window in the bottom bx type 'settings.php' at the end of the line and press enter
  6. You now have a copy of the file called 'settings.php', select it
  7. Click Code editor at the top then click Edit from the window that opens
Go to line 92 and fill in the database user name, password and name. Mine looks something like:
{syntaxhighlighter brush: php;fontsize: 100; first-line: 1; }$db_url = 'mysql://USERNAME_user:MY-PASSWORD@localhost/USERNAME_db';{/syntaxhighlighter}

Save it (by clicking Save Changes button in cPanel)
